Fortnite's New Junk Rift Delivers Damage From Above To Weaken Deadly Mechs

Epic Games has announced its latest Fortnite update that brings the game to v10.10 and adds in some new weapons and other items. The coolest thing the update brings is the new Junk Rift. This weapon is a throwable object that breaks on contact and spawns a large object in the sky, like a boat anchor, car, and even a dinosaur to fall on your enemy. From the video, it appears as if that weapon takes a bit to deploy.

The Junk that falls out of the rift damages everything in its path. A direct hit deals 200 damage and slightly knocks a player back. A hit by its shockwave deals 100 damage. Both hits immediately destroy vehicles and destructible objects on impact. This seems like Epic's way of offsetting the outcry that the B.R.U.T.E. mech is overpowered (Epic recently said that it added the B.R.U.T.E. to give less skilled players a chance to win).

The Junk Rift drops in stacks of two and players can carry a max of four. The new Fortnite weapon is Epic in rarity and can be found in floor loot, chests, supply drops, and llamas. The Rift Beacon at the Rec Center has malfunctioned and exploded, leaving a giant crater and glitched consumables. The glitched consumables that are at the explosion site randomly switch between different forageable items from the past.

The items include apples, mushrooms, coconuts, peppers, hop rocks, and shadow stone. Each adds a different amount of health or shields depending on what is consumed. The shadow stone has been disabled for some reason; it turned the player into a ghost for a short time, allowing them to move faster and run through structures. The Green Toy Wrap bundle has been updated, and with the update, players can refund the bundle without using a Refund Token.

Players have 30 days from the next login to redeem the refund if wanted. Changes have also been made to the creative mode of the game, check the full changelog here
