Fujitsu to introduce flash-drive laptops

I have been expecting a slow switch to solid-state storage for a while now. NAND flash is lighter and requires less power that conventional hard drive storage. Its one draw back is price, however, NAND prices have been dropping over the past year due to higher yields and better processing techniques as evidenced from ever dropping thumb-drive prices.So it comes as no surprise that Fijitsu has jumped aboard the flash hard drive bandwagon.

Fujitsu Ltd will release for the first time in Japan laptop computers that use flash memory instead of a hard disk drive, the Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported, without citing sources. Flash memory is lighter, more shock resistant and consumes less power than hard disk drives.
