Google Nexus 4 Slowly Disappearing, Is a New Phone on the Horizon?
Google's mighty popular Nexus 4 device is still considered by many to be the best Android smartphone on the market, but it might also soon become old news. The Nexus 4 is becoming slightly less easy to find at various retailers, especially in the U.K. where Carphone Warehouse and Phones4U have both stopped selling the device, leading some to speculate that a new Nexus handset is on the horizon.
Android Headlines surmises the disappearance of the Nexus 4 in parts of the U.K. this close to Google I/O signifies the impending release of the Nexus 5. Alternately, Google could launch a slightly altered version of the Nexus 4 with 4G LTE connectivity, a trick the current generation handset lacks.
Here in the U.S., CNET's Erik Mack reported that searches for the Nexus 4 on Best Buy's website returned a "Page Not Found" error, though our own search for the device didn't prove as fruitless. We've also found a number T-Mobile stores selling the Nexus 4, so this could be much ado about nothing.
However, this isn't the first we've heard of the Nexus 5. Two months ago, supposed first images and specs of the LG-built handset popped up on the web. Based on those specs, the Nexus 5 is said to sport a 5.2-inch OLED display with a Full HD 1080p resolution, Qualcomm Snapdraong 800 processor clocked at 2.3GHz, 3GB of LPDDR3 RAM, 16GB/32GB/64GB of internal storage, 2.1MP front-facing camera, 16MP rear-facing camera, 4G LTE support, and a 3,300mAh battery.
