This Grueling Super Mario Maker 2 Fan Creation Is Not Helping Our Anxiety Levels

Super Mario Maker 2 launched not long ago, and fans of the game have been building some crazy levels to challenge other players. The big draw for most people is the custom levels, and recently an incredibly difficult level has been shared with the creator giving us a nice walkthrough of the spinning flames of death.

The level uses the really old school, early Mario graphics, and sounds for a retro feel. It has fire ropes swinging around from everywhere, and in some spots, it seems as if it is impossible to pass. The player jumps onto boxes floating in the air, and leaps over fire ropes as they swing. At some points, the player has to move backward at just the right time to avoid immediate death.

This custom level shows just hope important timing the jumps is critical to pass. In the end, the player makes it through the fire level unscathed. We would assume that there were lots of failures, lots of assumptions that the level was impossible, and probably more than a few thrown controllers.

Super Mario Maker 2 has proven to be very popular with gamers, selling over 196,000 copies in Japan in its first week of availability. The game has a Story Mode for players to tackle more than 100 built-in courses. Any custom made courses can be shared with any other Switch owner, as long as both players have a Switch Online membership. Super Mario Maker 2 can be had for $59.99 in a digital or physical version or $69.99 with a 12-month Nintendo Switch Online membership bundled in.
