HTC EVO 4G Ships In White, But Only To Best Buy

Sprint's launch of the HTC EVO 4G has led to a huge increase in attention for WiMAX as a whole. It's America's first 4G phone, and it also happens to be one of the most impressive Android devices to date. With its massive display, 3G/4G support, powerful CPU and Sense overlay, it's been an easy choice to pick up for those living in 4G areas and not bothered by the $10/month surcharge for accessing WiMAX.

But if there could be one complaint, it would be that the EVO 4G was only available in a single color. That's right: just black. But now, Best Buy is giving the world another option with a white EVO 4G. The retailer began taking pre-orders for the exclusive handset over the weekend, offering an all-white rear cover for the same $199.99 on a 2-year Sprint contract. Best Buy will be the only place to secure the phone for the foreseeable future, though it won't actually be available to consumers until July 11th.

Aside from the color, nothing about the phone has changed; it can still become a Wi-Fi hotspot for up to 8 devices, and it still ships with Android 2.1. With all the problems Apple is having with those white iPhone 4 devices, this seems like a subtle kick in the pants. Or maybe HTC just sees the demand for multiple color options. Either way, are you heading in to pre-order?
