Huawei Guarantees Two Years Of Software And Security Updates For Honor Smartphones

If you have been eyeing the recently-introduced Honor 8 smartphone, you are in luck. Huawei is now guaranteeing two years of software and security updates for Honor devices. Huawei is the third largest telecommunications manufacturer in the world.

Most of its business comes from China, however, Google’s Nexus 6P (check out our review here) and the Huawei Mate 8 (check out our review here) have both made successful inroads in the United States.

Huawei will give customers access to new features for up to 24 months following each product's launch. The company will continue to provide safety updates thereafter. Taylor Wimbley from Huawei remarked, “Our goal is to ensure customers have the best and safest possible experience on their Honor device.” It is unclear if this offer will also be available for other Huawei devices outside of the Honor line.

The Honor 8 includes 2.5D glass construction and a 5.2-inch Full HD IPS display. It also incorporates a Kirin 950 octa-core processor that is backed by 4GB RAM, 3000 mAh battery with fast charging support, a USB-C port, 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2. The device also features two cameras on the back and one in the front.

The Honor 8 is currently available in China and can be purchased in the United States on August 26th. It is available from Best Buy, Amazon, and Newegg for pre-order and comes with a $50 USD gift card. The Honor 8 is priced at $399 USD for the 32GB model and $449 USD for the 64GB version.
