New Galaxy S8 Leaks Shed Light On Samsung’s Next Android Flagship With Onboard ‘Bixby’ AI

We are inching closer to the launch of Samsung's next flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S8, which is expected to official sometime after Mobile World Congress (Samsung pushed back the launch so that it could put the phone's battery through a new and more rigorous testing protocol to avoid another Galaxy Note 7 scenario). However, there might not be all that much left to reveal. The latest leak surrounding the Galaxy S8 is of another alleged case showing a bezel-free design.

The newest images trace back to Weibo, a Chinese-language microblogging website that is a sort of hybrid of Twitter and Facebook. What we see in the shots is consistent with previous leaks indicating that Samsung will ditch the physical Home button that and replace it with a fingerprint sensor on the back, the placement of which appears to sit awkwardly at the top. The long rectangular cutout that is visible in the above leaked image is for rear-facing camera and dual LED. Next to that is a smaller cutout for the fingerprint sensor.

We will reserve judgement on the placement until we are able to spend some hands-on time with the finished product, though ahead of that, we have a point of reference. Huawei's stylish Honor 8 places the fingerprint sensor slightly lower and centered on the rear of the handset, which we found easy to reach.

Here is one more look at the leaked case, this one of the inside with the Samsung Galaxy S8 branding etched into the plastic. Looking at the grooves, there appears to be a carved out section for a button that will summon Bixby, Samsung's AI assistant.

Keeping in mind that nothing is yet official, prior rumors and leaks point to the Galaxy S8 shipping with two display sizes, one that is 5.8 inches and the other 6.2 inches. Both will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 System-on-Chip (SoC) and feature 4GB of RAM, 64GB (or more) of onboard storage expandable via microSD, and a 3,000 mAh (5.8-inch model) or 3,500 mAh (6.2-inch model) battery.
