Lenovo Legion Y530 Listing Confirms Upcoming GeForce GTX 1160 Mobility GPU

We're all a bit antsy for NVIDIA to launch another round of mobile GPUs for laptops, and evidently that day is drawing near. In fact, that day is so close that Lenovo is apparently bursting at the seams. On a support page for its Legion Y530 and Legion Y7000P laptops, Lenovo references an unreleased GeForce GTX 1160.

It doesn't appear to be a typo. The GeForce GTX 1160 designation sits alongside a few other GPU options, namely the existing GeForce GTX 1050 and GeForce GTX 1050 Ti, both of which come in 2GB and 4GB flavors.

Lenovo lists the GeForce GTX 1160 as coming in 3GB and 6GB models. There might also be a few other new GPU options, as Lenovo states "and next generation GPUs" alongside the GeForce GTX 1160 designation.

The product page is in line with previous rumors suggesting that NVIDIA will launch a round of mobile GPUs based on its Turing architecture, minus dedicated RT cores to handle real-time ray tracing via Microsoft's DirectX Raytracing (DXR) API. It's not clear if these GPUs will be missing the RT cores altogether, or if they'll simply be disabled.

Leaks and rumors also point to NVIDIA launching higher end RTX GPUs for laptops, which would come with RT cores enabled for real-time ray tracing. While nothing has been announced yet, leaks point to those GPUs coming in both regular and Max-Q variants, the latter of which would find their way into thin and light gaming laptops.

It's expected that NVIDIA will announce at least some of its new GPUs at (or just before) the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas next month.
