If you thought that a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor paired with 10GB of RAM was the bee’s knees, then you'll definitely be bowled over by Lenovo's latest release. Just a few weeks ago, we were championing the release of the world's first flagship phones with 10GB of RAM onboard, and now Lenovo has announced the Z5 Pro GT which is the world's first smartphone to come with 12GB of RAM.

It seems as though not long ago, 4GB was the "gold standard" and many OEMs simply skipped over 6GB and went straight for 8GB. Now with 10GB and 12GB smartphones upon us, it's up to developers to start taking advantage of that extra memory.

But that's not all; the Lenovo Z5 Pro GT is also the first phone to use Qualcomm's brand-new Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform. This octa-core Kryo 485 CPU is built on 7nm processor tech and is up to 45 percent faster than Kryo 385 in the Snapdragon 845. It features a “prime" core that can be clocked up to 2.84GHz and three performance cores clocked at 2.42GHz. In addition, there are four efficiency cores clocked at a more sedate 1.8GHz. The SoC includes a potent Adreno 640 GPU that is 20 percent faster than its predecessor.

If that wasn't enough, the Z5 Pro GT features 512GB of internal storage, and comes with a large 6.39-inch AMOLED display (2340 x 1080). The phone has a 95.05 percent display-to-body ratio since it doesn’t have a notch; the Z5 Pro GT instead uses pop-up selfie cameras, 16MP + 8MP infrared. There's also a fingerprint reader embedded in the display, although we don't know if the phone is using Qualcomm's new 3D Sonic Sensor to accomplish this feat.

Other features include dual rear cameras (16MP, 24MP) and a 3,350 mAh battery, which seems relatively small for its size. You'll also find a USB-C port and a 3.5mm headphone jack for those that lament its loss in other flagship phones. Finally, the smartphone is running Google's latest Android 9 Pie operating system, but it has Lenovo's ZUI 10 interface layered on top.

The Lenovo Z5 Pro GT is set to launch in China on January 15th at a price of roughly $650.
