Microsoft Rewards Kind-Hearted Boy Who Gave Up His Xbox To Donate Blankets To Homeless

A 9-year-old boy from Ashland County, Ohio recently gave up his Christmas wish of an Xbox One X to make the cold winter months more bearable for the homeless population in his area. That boy is Mikah Frye, and his grandmother originally planned to purchase him an Xbox One X for Christmas. However, after talking with his parents about how the homeless people in the area keep warm in the winter, the boy gave up his wish to buy blankets for those less fortunate.

Rather than getting the console, the boy had his grandmother spend the money on 30 blankets and he hand wrote notes of encouragement for each of the recipients. The notes read, "They gave me a blanket, but I had to leave it. That's why I want you to have your own blanket ... Today, I live in my own house, and someday you will too. Your friend Mikah."

The boy and his family were homeless for a while after financial trouble and the charity that he gave the blankets to, Ashland Church Community Emergency Shelter Services, was the same charity that helped him and his family during that time.

The boy's grandmother said, "He knew what it was like to not have a blanket at night and have to give it back. So the first thing he wanted to do is give a blanket that they could keep."

Frye's big-hearted gesture caught the attention of Microsoft and the software giant made sure that his Christmas wish came true as well. Microsoft gave Frye a Minecraft themed Xbox One S and some extra games and accessories for the console. The boy also got to see Santa at the Microsoft store when he picked up the gifts.
