Motorola Announces Moto Pulse, Moto Surround Wireless Bud Companions For New Moto X And G Phones

Smartphones weren’t the only topic of discussion at Motorola’s mobile event this morning; the consumer electronics company also unveiled two new wireless headphones at affordable price points.

First up is the Moto Pulse, which are lightweight on-ear Bluetooth 4.1 headphones that provide up to 18 hours of runtime per charge (the headphones are charged via a microUSB port). The headphones have 40mm speaker drivers, a 60-foot range of operation (Motorola says this is twice the range of competing products), feature a built-in mic (for hands-free calls) and is compatible with a wide range of Android and iOS tablets and smartphones.

The second offering is the “around-the-collar” Moto Surround which is a wireless, Bluetooth 4.1-based earbud system. Motorola says that the Moto Surround is waterproof, sweatproof and provide up to 12 hours of HD music listening. Like the Moto Pulse, the Moto Surround can also tackle hands-free calling with its built in microphone and features a dedicated “Talk” button for answering calls. You can even send texts using just your voice. Another nifty feature is the ability for the Moto Surround to vibrate around to notify you of incoming calls.

Both headphones are compatible with the Motorola Connect app which allows you to easily pair the headphones, get notifications on current battery life and even track down your headphones if you have misplaced them.
