Nintendo Postpones Today's Direct Livestream For Switch Console Due To Devastating Earthquake
Nintendo was scheduled to broadcast a livestream today in which the company promised to reveal information about upcoming games for its Switch and 3DS consoles. However, Nintendo has decided to postpone the livestream after a devastating earthquake in Hokkaido, Japan, left several people dead and many more injured.
Announced yesterday, Nintendo stated on Twitter that its Direct livestream would kick off today at 3:00 PM Pacific (6:00 PM Eastern) and feature "around 35 minutes" of information on upcoming games for two of its most popular consoles, those being the Switch and 3DS. This was to be Nintendo's fourth Direct presentation.

"Due to the powerful earthquake in Hokkaido, Japan, we have decided to delay this week's planned Nintendo Direct," the company stated on Twitter. Nintendo promised to provide a new date and time "in the near future."
The 6.7-magnitude earthquake killed at least seven people and injured more than 150 residents, according to an official with the Crisis Management Office of Hokkaido Prefecture Government. Dozens of people remain missing, so the number of casualties could be higher. In addition, the earthquake caused landslides that buried several homes.
Honestly massive props to Nintendo for having the balls to put the lives of their customers over an announcement video. Most companies wouldn't be able to do that. Hearts out to all the victims at the earthquake.

While some gamers are disappointed that the livestream has been postponed, most understand the decision. It's 100 percent the right move, in our opinion, and our condolences go out to everyone affected by this tragedy.
