NVIDIA Launches New Creators Ready Drivers For Adobe Lightroom, Autodesk Arnold And More

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Founders Edition
NVIDIA has launched a new set of graphics drivers aimed specifically at creators who use programs like Adobe Photoshop and Blender Cycles. Appropriately called "Creator Ready" drivers, these will exist alongside NVIDIA's "Game Ready" driver packages that are optimized for gaming and often tuned for the latest game releases.

Similar to how AMD maintains two separate sets of graphics drivers—regular and Pro version of its Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition—NVIDIA now has two sets as well. Both contain the full feature set and application support for games, so users can choose either driver they wish, depending on which they do more often—play games or create content. The primary difference is that the Creator Ready drivers go through "more in-depth testing to meet the stringent demands of their work."

Creator Ready Driver Interface

"To achieve the highest level of reliability, Creator Ready Drivers undergo extensive testing against multiple revisions of the top creative applications. Whether you just updated to the latest release of your favorite creative app or are still on the prior version, Creator Ready Drivers are fully tested," NVIDIA says.

NVIDIA also conducts "exhaustive multi-app testing for each type of creative workflow" when qualifying new Creator Ready driver releases. This consists of things like cutting 4K video in Adobe Premiere Pro CC and then moving it to After Effects CC for post production, then back to Premier for rendering.

Just as NVIDIA releases new Game Ready drivers when there is a new game on the horizon, the company says it will time the release of its Creator Ready drivers with creative application updates.

The very first of these is the Creator Ready 419.67 WHQL release. According to the release notes, GeForce RTX 2080 graphics card owners can expect up to a 13 percent performance bump in Cycles, up to 9 percent in Photoshop CC and Premiere Pro CC, and up to 8 percent in Cinema 4D.

There are also a bunch of big fixes. They include the following:
  • [DaVinci Resolve]: Performance drop occurs.
  • [Ghost Recon: Wildlands][Ansel]: The game experiences low performance and stuttering and then crashes when using Ansel.
  • [HDR][Far Cry:New Dawn DirectX 11]: Desktop brightness and color gets overexposed with ALT + TAB when Windows HDR is disabled and in-game HDR is enabled. [200495279]  [Total War: Warhammer 2]: Poor performance when using antialiasing.
  • [Adobe]: Artifacts may appear in Adobe applications (fixed for single-GPU case).
  • [Apex Legends]: Screen gets corrupted when switching from windowed mode to fullscreen mode when Windows HDR is enabled.
  • [GeForce Experience]: Parts of the screen are cut off when recording video with Shadowplay.
  • [Turing][Star Citizen]: The game flickers and then crashes to the desktop.
  • [GeForce GTX 980]: NVAPI calls take a large amount of CPU time.
  • [Titan RTX]: Graphics card rises about 20 degrees Celsius when running NVLINK command to enable TCC mode.
  • [GeForce RTX 2080][Notebook][Resolume Arena 6]: The game exhibits slow performance.
  • [GeForce RTX 2070]: With two monitors connected and active, the second monitor flickers.
