OnePlus 5T Launches Today, Here's Where To Livestream The Keynote Unveil

OnePlus 5T

OnePlus is launch a new flagship handset, and you can watch it live, if you want to. The OnePlus 5T will get an official unveiling at 8 AM Pacific / 11 PM Eastern, which is only about an hour from now (at the time of this writing). And in addition to a regular OnePlus 5T device, there have been rumors of a Star Wars Edition, which if true could also be unveiled today during the livestream.

Launching a Star Wars Edition at this point in time makes a bit of sense, given that there's a new Stars Wars movie headed to the silver screen next month. And in addition to Star Wars: The Last Jedi (Episode VIII, if you are keeping count), Electronic Arts just released Star Wars: Battlefront II. Even NVIDIA has gotten in on the branding action, with a Stars Wars themed Titan Xp graphics card, available in choice of green or red.

As to the OnePlus 5T, a reader at XDA Developers noticed a string of text labeled "accent_star_wars" in the Launcher, Settings, and SystemUI APKs. Further digging revealed the accent color's hex code, #ff2873, which is a dark red color that is similar to color used in posters for The Last Jedi.

It was not just color references, either. Internet detectives did some more digging and found strings of code labeled "DEVICE_CUSTOM_STAR_WARS." It all seemingly hints at OnePlus releasing a Star Wars themed OnePlus device, presumably a special edition OnePlus 5T, since that is the new flagship being introduced today.

In regards to the actual hardware, previous leaks and rumors suggest the OnePlus 5T will sport a 6.01-inch display with a 2160x1080 resolution (18:9 aspect ratio) and powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC. There will be two versions, one with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, and another with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Both will have a 3,300 mAh battery and run Oxygen OS based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box.

The livestream is actually active right now with filler content (the unveiling will happen at the times mentioned). You can catch it in the embedded video above, by going to YouTube, or heading to OnePlus.
