OnePlus Confirms Snapdragon 845, 8GB RAM And 256GB Storage For OnePlus 6

This week, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau penned a long, meandering post entitled "Our Pursuit of Burdenless Speed". In it, Lau confirms what most of us already have already assumed: the OnePlus 6 will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor that can be paired with up to a staggering 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage. The storage figure matches the high marks achieved by iPhone X and iPhone 8, and is double that of the OnePlus 5T.

Lau goes on to describe that our smartphones have been incredibly powerful in recent years, but we have yet to find ways to truly harness the extra muscle for more useful functions.

"Smartphones have become more powerful than ever, but that doesn’t mean they’ve become smarter as well," said Lau. "Often, it feels like smartphones are more of a burden to our lives. Instead of making our lives better, our smartphones are a gateway to the 'attention economy', dominated by social media, bloatware, and intrusive notifications."

Last week, OnePlus confirmed yet another aspect of the OnePlus 6, which is likely be its more controversial feature: a notched display. "We wanted to offer the biggest display possible without compromising on hardware, which is why we opted for the notch design," said Lau last week. He also today confirmed that users will be able to hide the notch by blacking out the background of notifications and the status bar in a future software update.
