Qualcomm Atheros Announces New Killer Networking Controllers

Qualcomm Atheros today unveiled its new Killer Wireless-N 1202 wireless module and Killer E2200 wired Ethernet controller. If you're at all familiar with Killer Technology (previously known as BigFoot Networks), you'll know these adapters are built with network performance in mind and as such include ping reducing technology and advanced QoS (Quality of Service) features.

The new Wireless-N 1202 is essentially the same as the 1102 model, only now it comes with Bluetooth 4.0 support baked in. Otherwise, it retains the same dual-band MIMO design in a half-mini PCI-E card form factor. According to The Verge, the Wireless-N 1202 will be offered as an upgrade option for a "major laptop OEM" in May.

On the wired side of the LAN party, the Killer E2200 gigabit Ethernet controller will wiggle its way onto high-performance gaming motherboards and offer the same features as the Wireless-N 1202 but in a non-wireless package. This one's available now, Qualcomm Atheros says.
