RIM Buys Scoreloop Mobile Gaming Platform Company

If you can't beat 'em, you might as well join up! RIM, the company responsible for the BlackBerry PlayBook and loads of famed BlackBerry handsets, has just snapped up a game maker, further proving that RIM's serious about the software game. The company's biggest problem over the past few years if their inability to keep up when it comes to software. Scoreloop is a respected name in the social gaming space, and it's rather exciting to think about what RIM could do with a company like this.

Scoreloop seems pretty darn exciting about the deal. They've announced that they'll be looking to provide a world-class platform for RIM to build games on, and as a part of the company, they'll be working to integrate "deeply" into RIM's operating systems. The other goal? To take mobile gaming to "the next level." The company's not ditching their multi-platform approach, but the RIM solution will obviously be the best they've ever kicked out.

So, any other companies looking to get acquired? It looks like RIM's got their checkbook open!
