Samsung Galaxy Book Windows 10 Convertible Teased Via Windows Store App
Internet sleuths were all over a new listing in the Windows Store that appeared over the weekend. Developed by Samsung, the new app is called Book Settings. What caught everyone's attention is the description making a reference to a Galaxy Book, a device that does not yet exist (or has not yet been announced, anyway). This suggests that Samsung is getting ready to release a new convertible laptop for Windows 10.
The description lists a handful of things contained in Book Settings, such as Battery Life Extender, Screen Mode, Pattern Log-in, a user manual, and other Samsung features. It then says, "Book Settings is an application for Galaxy Book. It may not function normally on other devices."
There is not a lot to extrapolate here, though the listing does reveal the name of the device (Galaxy Book) and suggest it will feature an AMOLED display and come with Samsung's S Pen stylus.
It is worth noting that Samsung filed a trademark for Galaxy Book three years ago.The trademark application indicated it was for tablet PCs, MP3 players, mobile phones, and smartphones. Speculation from this new listing is that the Galaxy Book will be a 2-in-1 device with a detachable display, a keyboard dock, and a folding hinge design.
Samsung recently confirmed it is not planning to launch a new flagship smartphone at Mobile World Congress later this week. The company wants an little more time to properly test the batteries in its Galaxy S8 using a new certification process to avoid another embarrassing Galaxy Note 7 scenario. However, it is planning to hold a press event in Barcelona. Perhaps that is when Samsung will announce the Galaxy Book.
