Here's How Samsung Fixed The Galaxy Fold Ahead Of Its New September Release Date

Samsung has stated that it is conducting final product tests and intends to make the Galaxy Fold available to consumers in specific markets in September. What markets it will make the device available in are unannounced at this time, but Samsung promises more details as we get closer to launch.

Samsung has also offered up some specifics on what it has done to prevent the Galaxy Fold from failing again. The top protective layer of the Infinity Flex display has been extended beyond the bezel to make it apparent that it is an integral part of the display structure and isn't meant to be removed. Additional reinforcements were added to the device to protect it from debris getting under the screen while maintaining its "signature" foldable experience.

Those changes include the top and bottom of the hinge area being strengthened with newly added protection caps. Additional metal layers were added under the Infinity Flex display to reinforce the protection of the display. The space between the hinge and body of the Galaxy Fold has been reduced as well.

We are looking forward to seeing a new iFixit teardown to get a direct look at how these new protections will work. Interestingly, Samsung requested that iFixit take down its teardown of the original Fold, and the publication complied. Along with the improvements to the Fold mentioned above, Samsung has also been working to improve the overall Galaxy Fold user experience, including the optimization of more apps and services for its unique foldable user interface.
