Samsung Galaxy S6 Sales Projected To Top 55 Million Units In 2015
More heads among top level executives were surely going to roll if Samsung botched its Galaxy S6 launch and ended up with unsold inventory like it did with the Galaxy S5, but luckily for mobile boss J.K. Shin and company, sales have jumped out to a quick start. It was reportedly earlier that the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge combined for over 20 million pre-orders, and now it's estimated the premium duo will notch more than 55 million unit sales by the end of the year.
That's coming from the latest report by DRAMeXchange. In it, the outfit revised its outlook upwards by over 20 percent after witnessing the early success and high praise Samsung's flagship phones have been receiving, much of which is centered on the premium metal and glass design that replaced the plastic construction the South Korean handset maker was so found of.
According to the report, Samsung is on pace to sell 22.2 million units of the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge in the second quarter, an increase of 5 million from DRAMeXchange's previous forecast. And in the third and fourth quarters, the report pegs shipments at 16.2 million and 12.5 million units, respectively.
Outside of the premium construction, Samsung's newest handsets stand out as being the first to sport wireless-charging batteries. The Galaxy S6 Edge is also notable as the first phone to wrap the display around both edges.
