Samsung Galaxy S8 Could Feature Supersized Displays To Blunt Note7 Loss

What would make you buy another Samsung phone after the PR disaster involving the Galaxy Note 7? How about a nice big screen? According to new a new report, the Samsung Galaxy S8 will likely feature an enlarged display in order to tempt potential customers.

The S8 will reportedly be available in 5.7-inch and 6.2-inch screen sizes. The current S7 features a 5.1-inch screen, while the Edge comes with a 5.7-inch screen. The actual phone itself would change little in overall size, however, due to a bezel-less design that would give it a 90% screen-to-body ratio.

Samsung is also incorporating an AI assistant in order to attract customers. The AI would be built into the OS, instead of as an app, similar to the Assistant embedded into Google’s Pixel. Customers could then activate the AI with their voice to request information.

What else do we know about the S8? Honestly, not much. The S8 will possibly include an iris scanner (first introduced on the Galaxy Note 7), dual cameras, and perhaps a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor.

The Galaxy S8 is expected to launch “early next year”, however, its launch has most definitely been delayed thanks to the Galaxy Note 7. Samsung still does not understand fully what went wrong with the Note 7’s battery design. Gregory Lee, president and CEO of Samsung Electronics North America, remarked, “We will re-examine every aspect of the device, including all hardware, software, manufacturing, and the overall battery structure. We will move as quickly as possible, but will take the time needed to get the right answers.” Until then, Samsung is hesitant to announce a release date for the Galaxy S8.
