Samsung Galaxy S8 Leaks Again Flaunting Expansive Infinity Display
The public reveal of Samsung’s Galaxy S8 is a little over three weeks away, which means that the leaks are continuing to drip at a steady rate. The latest leak gives us a good look at the smartphone from nearly every angle while it is nestled within a clear, plastic case.
We can clearly see the Galaxy S8’s massive Infinity Display Super AMOLED and the lack of a home button (which might take some getting used to on the part of long-time Galaxy owners). A close-up look at the area directly above the display also shows us what looks to be six sensors — we know that at least one of them is the 8MP front-facing camera while yet another is the iris scanner, which can be used to unlock the device.
On the back of the device, we get a nice look at the 12MP Dual Pixel main camera, LED flash and the repositioned fingerprint sensor (a result of the home button going MIA). At the bottom edge of the Galaxy S8, we see a 3.5mm headphone jack (Yay!), USB-C charging port in place of microUSB, a microphone and the device’s speaker. On the top edge of the Galaxy S8, we see what appears to be another microphone, and the removable slot for the combo microSD/nanoSIM reader.
Other confirmed specs for the Galaxy S8 include IP68 dust/water resistance, 64GB of onboard memory and 4GB RAM. Wireless charging is also still supported, although you’ll still have to purchase your own wireless charger. As for what SoC will be powering the device, U.S. market customers will receive the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, while other markets (including Samsung’s home market of South Korea) will likely receive the Samsung Exynos 8895.
On the display front, the Galaxy S8+ is confirmed to feature a 6.2-inch display with a QHD+ (3200x1800) display, while things are a bit murkier for the standard Galaxy S8. It has been reported that the Galaxy S8’s display will measure somewhere between 5.7 to 5.8 inches.
The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ will be revealed at the Samsung Unpacked event in New York City on March 29th. Worldwide availability will commence on April 21st.
