Samsung Galaxy S8 Will Likely Include 6GB RAM And 256GB Storage Option
As we get closer to the expected launch date of the Galaxy S8, rumors and speculation tend to ramp up. Some of the latest buzz about Samsung's not-yet-announced flagship phone is that there will be a version with a whopping 256GB of onboard storage. That would be a massive upgrade over what is available on the Galaxy S7, which comes in 32GB and 64GB models.
On the topic of storage, it is worth noting that Samsung brought back the microSD card slot with the Galaxy S7 after having dropped it with the Galaxy S6. Samsung took a page from Apple and figured that a premium design would overshadow the lack of expandable storage. The assumption turned out to be correct, as it reinvigorated interest in a what had become a tired Galaxy line, but Samsung opted to bring it back without disrupting the premium look and feel of the handset.
Now it seems to be taking a couple more pages from Apple as it looks ahead to the Galaxy S8. There has been chatter that Samsung will release a glossy black color option. If so, it would be an obvious answer to the Jet Black color option Apple introduced with the iPhone 7. It's a color option that is only available on the 128GB and 256GB versions of the iPhone 7 and not the least expensive 64GB model.
If Samsung bumps up the amount of onboard storage to 256GB on the Galaxy 8, it will reach parity with Apple. What will be interesting to see, however, is if Samsung copies Apple's marketing tactic of limiting the rumored glossy black color option to its more expensive configurations.
It's also rumored that the Galaxy S8 will feature dual cameras on the back, faster wireless charging, an iris scanner, and 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM. If it ends up with all of that, the Galaxy S8 will be a beastly handset.
