Samsung Mobile Chief Confirms In-Display Fingerprint Reader For Upcoming Galaxy S10 Flagship
It looks as though Samsung is finally getting fancy with the fingerprint sensor on its upcoming Galaxy S10 smartphone. A well known tipster quotes Samsung's mobile chief DJ Koh as saying the Galaxy S10 will not use an optical fingerprinting solution because the user experience is not where it should be, and instead will use a better screen fingerprinting solution.
DJ Koh said that the Galaxy S10 does not use an optical fingerprinting solution because optical fingerprinting can cause a bad user experience. Otherwise, Samsung could adopt it two years ago. We will bring a better screen fingerprinting experience for S10.

The Galaxy Note 9 is not expected to have an in-display fingerprint reader, which means the Galaxy S10 will be Samsung's first device to sport one. However, that may not be the case for all Galaxy S10 variants. Rumor has it Samsung is releasing three models, including a 5.8-inch version, a 6.1-inch variant, and a 6.4-inch SKU.
It's said the two bigger phones will have the in-display fingerprint scanner, while the entry-level model will instead have a side-mounted sensor that will still allow the device to boast a bezel-free display. We will have to wait and see if that's the case.
Whatever the case might be, in-display fingerprint scanning is coming to Samsung's next-generation flagship and will undoubtedly be a highly touted feature. And while not confirmed, at least one version of the phone is rumored to wield a triple-rear camera configuration. This is said to consist of the two sensors already found on the Galaxy S9, a 12MP wide-angle and a 12MP telephoto, plus an additional 16MP ultra wide-angle sensor with a 120-degree field of view (FOV).
Rumor also has it the Galaxy S10 will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor in the United States and a Samsung Exynos 9820 SoC (both 7-nanometers) in the international model, and will feature 2Gbps LTE connectivity.
The Galaxy S10 is expected to arrive in February 2019.
