Samsung on Friday announced its Notebook 9 Pen and Notebook 9 Pro, a pair of sleek laptops that are relatively thin and light. For this latest generation, Samsung refreshed the internals with an 8th generation Intel Core i7-8565U processor, which is a capable 4-core/8-thread CPU clocked at 1.8GHz to 4.6GHz, with 8MB of L3 cache.

As indicated by the model name, the Notebook 9 Pen comes bundled with an S Pen, which slides into the base of the system for easy storage.

"You can jot down notes, draw, and take advantage of useful shortcuts through Air Command. S Pen is seamless, and reacts the moment you touch the PC’s vibrant display, as if putting a real pen to paper, thanks to reduced latency up to 2x from the previous model. You can even customize your S Pen options, swapping in your choice of three different pen tips to get the drawing feel you prefer," Samsung says.

The Notebook 9 Pen is also a 2-in-1 device that comes with a 13.3-inch or 15-inch display, both of which are Full HD 1080p panels with a max 500 nits brightness. Pricing starts at $1,399, and for that you get the aforementioned processor paired with Intel UHD Graphics 620, 8GB of LPDDR3 RAM, and a 512GB NVMe SSD.

There is a $1,599 SKU that doubles the RAM to 16GB, and a $1,799 model that includes 16GB of RAM, a 1TB SSD, and a discrete GeForce MX150 GPU with 2GB of video memory.

There are two versions of the Notebook 9 Pro available, both with Active Pen in the box and both wielding a 13.3-inch Full HD 1080p display. The less expensive of the two costs $1,099 and comes with the same processor, 8GB of RAM, and a 256GB NVMe SSD, while the $1,299 model doubles the RAM to 16GB and storage to 512GB.

All of these new models will be available to purchase starting Sunday, March 17.
