Samsung Resumes Android 8.0 Oreo OTA Updates For Galaxy S8 And Galaxy S8+

If you recall, the G950/G955-FXXU1CRAP update was pulled because it was causing unexpected reboots on some devices. The problem was discovered after the update had already be pushed over-the-air to customers in Turkey, Norway, the UAE, India, Belgium, Germany, France, and Poland. Once the problems were discovered, Samsung yanked the update from its servers.

Today, a new firmware update is rolling out with Android Oreo onboard. The firmware is labeled G950FXXU1CRB7 and G955XXU1CRB7 for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ respectively. According to SamMobile, who first reported about the update, the firmware weighs in at 530MB for those that already have Android Oreo installed on their smartphone. For those that hadn't already upgraded from Android 7.x, the firmware update will be "considerably larger".

In addition to bringing Android 8.0 Oreo to the 2017 flagships, the Samsung Experience software has been upgraded to version 9.0.

The new firmware updates are first being seeded in the German market and will soon make their way across the globe to the remaining Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ owners.
