Sony And Newegg Serve Up Big Black Friday Deals On PlayStation VR And Hot PC Gear

Tis the season to be jolly, and who wouldn't be cheerful after scoring a high-tech item at a deep discount? That might not be what the holidays are all about, but being able to upgrade your gear without paying full price sure is a nice bonus to go on top of the usual late-year festivities. It starts with Black Friday, of course. Adding to the early hype of the busiest shopping day of the year, Sony and Newegg have joined a growing number of manufacturers and retailers that have released Black Friday ads ahead of the big event.

Sony

Starting with Sony, the PlayStation maker is eager to get a jump start on the deals.

"To get in the holiday spirit, we’ve got some amazing Black Friday deals to share with you. We’re celebrating Black Friday early and for an entire week this year in the US, starting on November 19 through Cyber Monday on November 27, at participating retailers while supplies last," Sony said.

Sony PlayStation VR Gran Turismo Bundle

All PlayStation VR bundles will be available for a discount, starting at $300, representing a $100 savings over the regular MSRP. That includes the recently announced PlayStation VR Gran Turismo Sport Bundle. Gamers will also be able to save $100 on pricier packages, such as the PlayStation VR Skyrim VR Bundle, which will see a drop in price from $450 down to $350.

"There has never been a better time to jump into the driver’s seat in GT Sport for a heightened VR experience, or transport yourself into the virtual open game world of The Elder Scrolls filled with dragon-fighting action," Sony says.

Sony DualShock 4 Wireless Controllers

Sony will also be marking down its PlayStation 4 consoles, not just its VR hardware. The slim model PS4 with 1TB of storage in Jet Black will be available for $200 instead of $300. And if you need extra controllers, Sony's DualShock 4 wireless controllers will start at $40, including the recently released translucent colored ones.

PS Plus members can a head start on the action, with deals of up to 40 percent off in the PlayStation Store starting November 17. Regular Joes and Janes will have to wait for November 21.

Newegg

Over at Newegg, tech nerds like ourselves will find a cornucopia of marked down items and bundles. Do you need a faster processor? Intel's speedy and popular Core i7-7700K will be available for $300, down from $350,with Assassin's Creed: Origins and Total War: Warhammer II thrown in. And if you are interested in VR, the Oculus Rift + Touch will be available for $350, down from $400. That is especially tantalizing, considering that Oculus recently slashed the price.
