Sprint Touts Torch 9850 And Bold 9930 Smartphones

RIM has quite the unveiling this week, and a few of the company's latest are headed to Sprint.

RIM and Sprint obviously have a long relationship of partnering with one another, and that's continuing with the release of America's first BlackBerry 7 OS phones. The Bold 9930 and the the Torch 9850 are both destined for Sprint's shelves. The 9930 boasts the thinnest design and widest QWERTY on a BlackBerry smartphone, while the Torch 9850 will be the first all-touch BlackBerry smartphone for Sprint customers. Not only are both phones rocking BB 7 OS, but they're also powered by a 1.2GHz processor, offer 5MP cameras and are World Phone capable.

There's no mention yet of a price or release, but one wonders, does RIM have a strong enough offering here to convince consumers to renew with a BB device? RIM's software has struggled against the competition lately, and BB 7 isn't a tremendous leap above the BB OS that's already out there.

This may be the final wave of BlackBerry handsets that ship with QNX.
