Toys R Us To Restock Nintendo Switch This Friday At 10AM Alongside Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

It has been nearly two months since Nintendo released its hybrid Switch console in the United States, but it is no easier to obtain today as it was when it launched. Supply has not kept with the rabid demand for what has become Nintendo's fastest selling console ever. However, getting one is not an impossible task—you just have to known where to be, and when. That is where we come in.

We received word from our contact at Toys R Us that the toy store will once again be restocking the Switch, this time in conjunction with the release of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, a first-party title that could end up as popular as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. If you want to get your hands on a Switch, call in sick to work this Friday, April 28, and head over to your local Toys R Us before the doors open at 10 AM.

Here is the email we received:

Toys R Us Nintendo Switch Stock

Not only is it recommended that you line up at Toys R Us prior to the doors opening at 10 AM, it will undoubtedly be critical in securing yourself a Switch. I can say this from experience. This is the third time in four weeks that Toys R Us has given us a heads up about its Switch availability. The first time was on a Saturday in late March. I arrived a little over an hour early at my local Toys R Us location in Johnson City, Tennessee and was number six in line—it had a total of 10 units.

How early you should arrive will depend on where you live. In bigger cities with higher populations, there is likely to be a larger number of people flocking to Toys R Us in hopes of grabbing a Switch. In most places it probably is not necessary to camp out, but generally speaking, we suggest arriving at least an hour beforehand.

The Switch is Nintendo's fastest selling console of all time. It notched more sales during its first two days of availability than other console that came before it, including the Wii, which previously held the record. And according to NPD Group, more than 900,000 Switch consoles have been sold in the U.S. alone since launch.

"Nintendo always strives to offer consumers something fun, new and different," said Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America’s President and COO. "With its various play modes and the innovative features of the Joy-Con controllers, Nintendo Switch provides unique experiences that people can take with them anywhere and share with anyone."

Does it live up to the hype? We'll answer that question and more when we post our full evaluation, along with tips on how to get the most out of the Switch.
