Ubisoft To Announce A New Big Game Title At E3 And The Division 2 Is Inbound

E3 2018 will be here before you know it and ahead of the big show, some details are surfacing that give an idea of what Ubisoft will be bringing to the massive gaming industry party. Ubisoft's E3 event will have three AAA titles to talk about. In addition it's being reported that all three of these titles will land by the end of Ubi's current fiscal year. That means by March 31, 2019, barring any delays, which are common in the gaming industry realm, unfortunately.

The Division 2 Confirmed Before 2019

We know what two of those game titles will be -- The Crew 2 and The Division 2 have been officially confirmed. The third game is unannounced. However, at least some details on that unannounced game will land at E3. Ubisoft says that it expects the three games combined to sell 19 million copies. That is a big decline in predicted sales for Ubisoft from the 23 million it had projected before.

The games publisher had originally planned to publish four AAA titles this fiscal year. That fourth title was Skull & Bones, but that game was delayed until next fiscal year. As for the mysterious unannounced game, we have no idea what that might be at this point. With no details on that third title, it's unclear if we are talking a completely new IP or a new game in an existing franchise.

Scuttlebutt suggests that if the game is in an existing franchise, a new Splinter Cell game might be the ticket. Ubi has been teasing some Splinter Cell clues; most notably by putting Sam Fisher into Ghost Recon: Wildlands. The tip about the unannounced game being unveiled at E3 came from Ubisoft CFO Alain Martinez during a recent earnings call. Ubisoft's E3 chat will happen on June 11th and details will be known that afternoon. Sony has talked up its E3 conference as well and has already stated that its conference will be about games, not hardware, crushing hopes of a PS5 unveil.
