Time to see how the Siluro MX handles Quake 3 Arena.

With Quake 3 set to it's "Fastest" setting, the Siluro MX just burned though the timedemo.  The "Fastest" setting is sort of ugly though...onto the "Normal" setting...

Again, the Siluro MX performed admirably.  The "Normal" setting also leaves a little something to be desired visually.  Time for the "High Quality" setting. 

Here we see a sharp drop once we hit 1024x768.  Not only did we have Quake 3 set to "High Quality" but we also turned Geometric and Texture detail to their maximum.  We ran this same benchmark while overclocked...

With a little higher overclock and some tweaking, 60FPS is very do-able at 1024x768 with everything maxed.  You can't really complain considering the price for this card!

Overall we were pleased with the Abit Siluro MX.  When you understand the nature of the Siluro MX, there are no major drawbacks with this card at all.  The only "issue" we have is that we anticipated something a little more with regards to overclocking.  You can't really hold anything against a product because it won't run as far "out of spec" as you like but with Abit's reputation we expected a something more.  If you're looking for a card to bring your gaming performance to the next level but aren't willing to sacrifice your first born, the Siluro MX is a good choice.  We give it a HotHardware Heat Meter rating of...
