Next we'll move on to some slightly older titles that have a good track record of repeatability in testing and that also scale reasonably well across multi-GPU test configurations.

Hitman: Absolution

As 47, a killer for the International Contract Agency (ICA), you have a very dangerous, but action-packed life. The Hitman franchise has been winning praise from critics throughout multiple games, of which Hitman: Absolution is the latest. When running this game’s benchmark, we set AA to 4X and pump the Quality Level settings to Ultra, making for a grueling gaming test.

Hitman shows a similar pattern, but in this setup we've scaled back from 4K resolution to allow these cards to stretch their legs a bit more and so that frame buffer size (per GPU) is less of a dependency. Here the Radeon Pro Duo actually edges out a pair of GeForce GTX 980 Ti cards in SLI showing near 1 to 1 scaling again for its on-board dual Fiji CrossFire setup. Incidentally, 3-way SLI offers only a pedestrian gain.

Metro: Last Light

Metro Last Light is your typical post-apocalyptic first person shooter game with a few rather unconventional twists. Unlike most FPS titles, there is no health meter to measure your level of ailment; rather, you’re left to deal with life, or lack thereof, more akin to the real world with blood spatter on your visor and your heart rate and respiration level as indicators. Metro Last Light boasts some of the best 3D visuals on the PC platform and includes a DX11 rendering mode that makes use of advanced depth of field effects and character model tessellation for increased realism.

Radeon Pro Duo Metro Last Light 2560 Performance

Metro Last Light, even at 2560X1600 resolution (native for our one of our 30-inch panel test beds) is still somewhat of a GPU crusher at Very High image quality settings. Even single high-end GPU configurations break a sweat, dropping down to the low 40s and high 30s frame rate level. The Radeon Pro Duo, again which is essentially a pair of Radeon R9 Nanos on a single card, shows really nice near 1 to 1 scaling again. Specifically, the Pro Duo offers a 95 percent uplift over a single R9 Nano, whereas an SLI GTX 980 Ti setup nets a roughly 83 percent increase over a single 980 Ti.
