PCMark 7 is great for testing your system’s general performance. Its application traces and computation workloads are based on real-world programs and tasks, rather than being strictly synthetic measurements.

PCMark 7 is a general computation test and we wouldn't expect more than small gains across all three systems. Asus' G751JY is very slightly faster than the GTX 880M-powered GT60, but the gap between all three systems is only 6%. In practice, you wouldn't notice a difference this small.

Next up we have 3DMark FireStrike, which offers tessellation, ambient occlusion, dynamic particle effects, high-res textures, and depth of field. We ran the test on Ultra mode, which upsamples to 2560x1440, and have included the combined score.
In Fire Strike, the GTX 980M's score of 4357 pulverizes both the Radeon M290X and the previous GTX 880M. 3DMark doesn't always map perfectly on to real-world results, but with a gap this huge, it'll be particularly interesting to see if Nvidia's newest can keep the pace. A 60% gain in just one year is remarkable. Even allowing for the fact that the GTX 880M's core architecture is 2.5 years old, that's still a huge gain in mobile.
