Asus Transformer Book T300 Chi 2-in-1 Ultrabook Review

Software and User Experience

Asus includes a few extras on the Chi T300 but for the most part, the system is fairly clean. Some of the pre-installed applications include Asus Smart Gesture, Foxit PhantomPDF, McAfee LiveSafe, McAfee SiteAdvisor, PixelMaster Video HDR, Asus WebStorage, WildTangent Games, and WinFlash. You’ll also find a trial version of Microsoft Office on the machine.

As we mentioned earlier, Asus includes a couple of extras with the Chi T300 including a micro USB to full size USB adapter and a microUSB to microUSB cable. You’ll also find a cable tie and screen cloth in the box. The Chi T300’s charger is relatively small, measuring about 2 inches square and a little over an inch thick.

To get a feel for multimedia performance on the Chi T300, we fired up a few HD movie trailers on YouTube to see how well this ultrabook could handle the workload and see how Intel’s Core M would behave. Here’s how things looked when playing a 1080p Guardians of The Galaxy clip:

As you can see from the Task Manager chart, Intel’s Core M 5Y71 doesn’t reach its top clock speed. CPU utilization hovered around 6%, though there were spikes up to 23% during our playback tests. We didn’t experience any dropped frames or stuttering during playback.
