Corsair TWINX2048-4400 Pro

DIMMS - Up Close and Personal

As far as memory goes, this is about as sharp as you can get. Corsair has done an excellent job with the aesthetics of their Pro series memory, from the sleek and efficient heatsink design, to the unique activity LED lights. The activity LED lights can be a bit of a deciding factor for some when finding the right 2GB DDR1 modules. Gamers who frequent LAN Party's and enjoy showing off their machines will certainly appreciate the thought that Corsair has put into the design. It's not all looks though, as the heat spreaders do an excellent job of keeping the ram cooled, even with a VDIMM voltage of 2.8V, and overclocked to 275MHz FSB.

The way the activity LED lights work are simple... the more memory intensive the application or game is, the more activity you'll see on the bars. As you can see from the pictures, the LEDs will remain mostly in the green while your system idles, and does less intensive tasks. Start encoding audio or video however, and the LEDs will go from flickering green, to solid red. And for the gamers, when you're getting frags, you're memory sees red. While you can find cheaper 2GB PC4400 packages, looks don't come cheap, and for some looks are everything.
