Honor 8 AnTuTu And GeekBench Scores
AnTuTu’s latest benchmark returns a number of metrics ranked with nebulous scores, rather than frame rates or time to complete. We tested with the latest version of AnTuTu across all platforms including Android, iOS and even Windows Phone. AnTuTu returns four top level performance metric results that we are including here: CPU, RAM, 3D, UX (or User Experience), along with a total score.

AnTuTu exposes the Achilles' heel of the Kirin 950 SoC, which is the Mali 880 MP4 GPU. With just four graphics cores, there's only so much the Honor 8 can handle in terms of 3D performance and gaming. It's a bit of a buzzkill for what is otherwise a strong SoC, though you have to remind yourself that this is a $350-ish phone, not a $650+ flagship.

In this GeekBench test, we're stressing only CPU cores in a handset (not graphics), with both single and multi-threaded workloads. GeekBench has refreshed those workloads lately in a recent updated release, however, so we have fewer phones to compare to as a result, though many of the current flagships are still represented here.
GeekBench paints a different picture as it concentrates on available compute power and isn't really concerned with graphics. Here the Kirin 950 SoC with its ARM Cortex-A72 cores, flexes its muscle and scores near the top of the pack in multi-core performance. Its single-core score is also towards the top, just not high enough for a top 3 placement. Overall this a solid showing for the Honor 8 and Kirin 950 chip.
