Despite the "Pro" in the MateBook X Pro's name, this laptop is not offered with the Pro version of Windows 10. Both available SKUs ship with Windows 10 Home 64-bit.
The MateBook X Pro boots to a clean desktop without any third-party cruft messing up the joint. It's sold as a "Signature Edition" laptop, which is a term Microsoft uses to denote a system that isn't bogged down with extra software.
"Many devices come loaded with extra software that you don't want and won't use. Signature Edition PCs come clean with no bloatware to slow you down, and give you a pure experience from the get-go," Microsoft explains on its Signature Edition page. From startup to shut down, Signature Edition PCs deliver the fastest Windows experience possible. Once you set up your new PC, you can count on it to run faster with maximum speed and responsiveness throughout your day."
That said, Huawei does include a one-year subscription to Office 365 Personal. That's yet another value proposition with the MateBook X Pro, as Office 365 Personal typically runs $59.99 per year if paying annually, or $5.99 per month.
The only utility you'll find on the MateBook X Pro is Huawei's PC Manager. You can use this utility to check your system's hardware and scan for updated drivers, which Huawei then fetches and installs. PC Manager can also connect to your MateBook X Pro to a Huawei phone to sync your photos and transfer files, similar to Apple's AirDrop, and use it as a hotspot to hop online and surf the web using your phone's mobile data.
