CrystalDiskMark is a synthetic benchmark that tests both sequential and random small and mid-sized file transfers using incompressible data. It provides a quick look at best and worst case scenarios with regards to SSD performance, best case being larger sequential transfers and worse case being small, random transfers.

The Samsung SSD 860 PRO also performed well in the various CrystalDiskMark tests. It battled for the top spot with the WD Blue in the sequential and high-queue depth 4K tests. The Samsung drive led the pack in the low-queue depth sequential test, however, only to trade victories with the Crucial BX300 in the 4K transfer test.
