As we discovered last month after a thorough review, Google's Pixel 3 and 3 XL smartphones are really good and we dubbed them as "Android Refined". And that camera! The camera is clearly one of the biggest attractions here, especially with the ability to take some of the best night shots we've ever seen. It's surprising, then, that even though the Pixel 3 and 3 XL only released last month, Best Buy is already applying one heck of a discount for Black Friday. That deal is $400 off, which is the kind of price slash that brings a top-end device down to or below the price point the likes of OnePlus flagships. This assumes of course that you're fine calling Verizon home, as that's the exclusive... Read more...
We hope you haven't had your fill of deals yet, because the deals dam is definitely getting ready to burst. Naturally, Best Buy has wasted no time getting its holiday deals online, with many alluring products on offer even well ahead of the official Black Friday and Cyber Monday sale dates. The holiday season will hopefully mean that you get some time to chill and take in some quality TV or movie content, and if that's the case, you might be on the lookout for a sweet upgrade. If so, LG's 65-inch UK6090PUA 4K television is an attractive choice at $599.99. It has webOS built-in, so you can take advantage of Netflix and Hulu, as well as download apps. With three HDMI ports, your main devices should... Read more...
We've talked a lot about Black Friday deals around here over the last few weeks as people around the world gear up for the holiday shopping season. We've already talked about a lot of Best Buy Black Friday deals but another smoking-hot deal we didn't know about the first time around has turned up. If you want a Chromebook, but you want a high-end premium Chromebook rather than the basic, lower-cost models out there on the market, Best Buy has a very good deal on the super-premium Google Pixelbook. Best Buy will be offering $300 off the Pixelbook base until bringing the price of the machine from $999 to $699. The only potential caveat to this Black Friday special is that the $300 off only counts... Read more...
Black Friday is right around the corner, and deals news is now starting to flow at a fevered pitch. People wanting to acquire some tech goodness for Christmas giving can start shopping right now in fact. If someone on your Christmas list wants a new iPhone, some deals are going right now at Best Buy and Target that will save you some money ahead of the holiday rush. Best Buy is offering a deal on the iPhone X that will afford people who trade in eligible devices the ability to get in on a $275 gift card for their trouble. The iPhone X has to be activated on AT&T, Verizon, or Sprint, though T-Mobile is nowhere to be found on this deal, unfortunately. The big caveat of the deal is that... Read more...
Black Friday will be here before you know it and while we are still a couple of weeks away, retailers are already touting their deals to get shoppers ready to buy. So far we have seen some very slick deals from Costco, Sam's Club, Kohls, Target, and Amazon. We can now add Best Buy to the Black Friday frenzy, and if your Christmas list has a new 4K UHD smart TV on it, you will want to hit up Best Buy after recovering from all the turkey and ham. One of the top deals that Best Buy is offering is a Toshiba Fire TV Edition 43-inch LED 4K UHD Smart TV with HDR for $129.99. That is a $200 discount off the normal price of the TV. Smart TV shoppers wanting a larger screen can get a Samsung 65" LED Smart... Read more...
Google's Pixel 3 family was one of the most anticipated smartphone launches of 2018, and as we showed in our hands-on review, it's been worth the wait. However, if you weren't one of the early birds first out of the gate to purchase Google's new Android Pie flagships, there's a new deal going on at Best Buy that might be worth your attention. If you purchase a Pixel 3 or Pixel 3 XL to activate on the Verizon Wireless network at Best Buy, you'll receive a free Nest Cam Indoor Security Camera. There aren't any promotional codes or silly mail-in rebates to mess with; simply add either the Pixel 3 or Pixel 3 XL to your cart, and the Nest Cam will be added automatically. For those keeping... The notched screen Motorola One smartphone was announced back in late August of this year when it was confirmed that the mid-range device and its sibling, the One Power, would be launching in Europe, Latin America, and Asia Pacific. At the time any potential availability in the States was unannounced. Motorola has now announced that the Motorola One will be coming to the U.S. and that the device will be sold exclusively through Best Buy locations for $399. Best Buy is taking pre-orders right now with a black or white version offered; official availability is set for November 9 online and November 11 in stores. One draw for this smartphone will be the price; in a world of over $1,000 flagship... Read more...
When early birds starting picking up their Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL phones from Verizon this week, they were met with befuddlement when it was discovered that the devices were carrier locked. While this might not seem all that surprising given that the Pixel 3 is a Verizon carrier-exclusive device, Verizon has traditionally sold its smartphones unlocked straight out of the box (including previous-generation Pixel phones). However, this policy changed with the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL (read the HotHardware review here). Instead, Verizon says that its smartphones have to be first activated on its network before they can be unlocked for use on other carriers. Once the phone is... Read more...
Best Buy isn’t exactly careful when it comes to putting out products or advertisements for new gear before it's time for an official release. Best Buy did this recently when it tossed up advertisements for new GoPro cameras well before the cameras launched. The electronics retailer has now done something similar with a fresh Chromecast device presumably set to launch next week at Google's event. A Redditor user named GroveStreetHomie went into a Best Buy store to pick up a Chromecast device for a new TV. However, the Redditor noticed that the device's packaging was different. Assuming it was a simple package update, the Chromecast was taken up front to buy. The problem came when... Read more...
It appears that action camera maker GoPro has plans to launch a new camera series in the coming weeks. No official word about the new cameras has come down from GoPro, but the launch must be close because images of a new Best Buy display going up in at least one store have surfaced. The actual announcement and launch of the cameras are expected later this month. All we have in the way of information on the cameras comes in what we can glean from a trio of images that surfaced on The Verge and Reddit. The images show that GoPro is going back to its older naming convention with cameras with the Hero 7 White, Silver, and Black editions. It appears that the White and Silver cameras have no front... When it comes to smart televisions, TCL has carved out a nice chunk of the U.S. market for itself over the past few years. The company's Roku TVs offer a blend of compelling performance, excellent value and of course, Roku integration. Best Buy is currently running a Labor Day promotion on the TCL 55-inch 5-Series 4K HDR TV (55S515). Like other TCL 5-Series TV's, the 55-inch model features Dolby Vision HDR along with HDR Dynamic Contrast technology thanks to its iPQ Engine. Dolby Digital Plus and Dolby Atmos audio technologies are supported, and you'll find three HDMI 2.0a ports with HDCP 2.2 (one supports ARC) along with dual 8W speakers. On the connectivity front, there's a single Ethernet... Read more...
Samsung is ending the work week with a bang. Yesterday the company launched its much-anticipated Galaxy Note 9 handset, and today it is opening up preorders for the device. Pricing starts at $999.99 so it is not for the faint of wallet or purse, however there are buy one, get one (BOGO) offers available at Best Buy to significantly soften the blow. Before we get to more pricing details, let's quickly recap the specs. The Galaxy Note 9 wields a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display with a 2960x1440 resolution (18.5:9 aspect ratio), 83.4 percent screen-to-body ratio, and HDR support, and Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Samsung's new phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, which is still Qualcomm's... Read more...
ASUS is shaking things up in the smartphone market with a budget phone that is the antithesis of a $1,000 handset like Sony's Xperia XZ2 Premium. The company's new ZenFone Live (L1) costs a fraction of that at $109.99, planting itself firmly in affordable territory, and if you want one you will have to head over to Best Buy where it is exclusively available for the moment. As you might imagine, the ZenFone Live is not rocking the latest and greatest hardware at that price point. Whereas flagship handsets typically sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chip, the ZenFone Live (L1) is powered by a modest Snapdragon 425, an entry-level system-on-chip (SoC) for tablets and smartphones that was released... Anyone who was intrigued by the slick little 10-inch Surface Go that Microsoft unveiled early this month, and has been on the fence about pre-ordering one, a new Best Buy pre-order deal might put you over the top. Best Buy is offering a pre-order special for the Surface Go, tossing in some gift cards and free stuff that should make Microsoft's new tablet an even sweeter deal. The big give here is a $50 Best Buy E-gift card that is delivered via email. Once you pre-order the Surface Go and pick it up in the store or have it delivered to your home, Best Buy will confirm fulfillment and the gift card will be emailed out to you. You could use it to pay for half of the slick Surface Pen that works... Read more...
Video may have killed the radio star, as The Buggles so famously put it nearly four decades ago, but what the band couldn't have predicted at the time is that digital streaming would murder physical media. Best Buy is now an accomplice—the retail electronics chain recently told music suppliers that it was pulling CDs from its stores this month. If you walk into a Best Buy location, there is a good chance you will no longer see rows of music CDs. When communicating its decision to music suppliers, the company said it was yanking them on July 1, this past Sunday. This led to reports that Best Buy was done with music CDs altogether, though that's not actually the case. While Best Buy is saying... Read more...
There's no question that Samsung's Galaxy series are among the most popular Android smartphones on the planet. The newest entries into the family -- the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ -- launched earlier the year and were most recently embiggened with larger storage capacities. Now, Samsung is adding a new color to the mix for those that haven't yet upgraded their smartphone: Sunrise Gold. Sunrise Gold joins the existing range of colors that include Lilac Purple, Coral Blue and Midnight Black. The gold-tinged Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ will still have an all-black front like the other colors offered.  It should be noted that if you have a hankering for gold, it will be an exclusive via Best... A gang of thieves in Georgia must be big fans of Ethan Hunt and the Mission Impossible series. The thieves had their eyes on expensive Apple gear located in a Best Buy store, and decided that rather than go through the front door (or even more inconspicuously through the back entrance) it would be better to go in through the roof.  These thieves decided to cut a hole through the roof of the Best Buy and rappel down into the store. In fact, they were so meticulous in their heist that they lowered themselves down right into a storage room that had was filled with a highly-profitable stash of iPhones, iPads, and MacBook/MacBook Pro computers. In total, the burglars made off with over $100,000... Read more...

It's not too often that we see epic deals on gaming notebooks, but Best Buy is currently running a promotion on the Acer Nitro 5 that made us do a double take. The laptop comes with some pretty stout specs and will only set you to back $599 (plus tax, of course). That price will get you a 15.6-inch Full HD (1920x1080) IPS display with Acer ComfyView technology to reduce screen glare. The display is backed up by an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti GPU with 4GB of GDDR5 memory onboard.  Powering the system is an Intel 7th generation (Kaby Lake) Core i5-7300HQ quad-core processor with a base clock of 2.5GHz and the ability to boost up to 3.5GHz. It isn't HyperThreading-enabled, but... Read more...
In a blow to gamers who like scoring brand-new game titles at better prices than the norm, Best Buy has decided to cancel its popular Gamers Club program. To many, Best Buy may not have seemed like the de facto place to pick up the hottest new console or PC game, but the company's Gamers Club made sticking with the company a no-brainer, or at least it used to. With the simple $30 annual membership, gamers could save 20% off of any new game, which means that the card would be quickly paid off after only a few purchases. Beyond that, the card enabled a 10% trade-in bonus, 10% off pre-owned games, double My Best Buy points, some special one-time use coupons, and "exclusive offers". It's not clear... Read more...
Best Buy and Amazon are fierce rivals in the electronics market, with the former having a big presence in the brick and mortar side of things, while the latter absolutely dominates the online sector. The two companies are now joining forces to sell new Fire TV Edition smart TVs in a rather interesting arrangement. The two companies inked a multi-year partnership that will see Best Buy as the exclusive retailer for Insignia- and Toshiba-branded Fire TV Edition smart TVs. These sets will be sold at both Best Buy's brick and mortar and online stores. In addition, the TVs will be sold via the Amazon Marketplace with Best Buy as the third-party seller. There will be nearly a dozen Fire TV Edition... Read more...
Huawei might be one of the largest smartphone OEMs in the world, but the company is having a very hard time breaking into the U.S. market. The reason for the difficulty is that Huawei has very close ties to the Chinese government, and the U.S. government is balking over fears of spying that could compromise national security. Huawei has now taken another significant blow in its plans to enter the U.S. market. The largest big box electronics retailer in the U.S., Best Buy, has ceased ordering new smartphones from Huawei and plans to stop selling Huawei products altogether over the next few weeks according to a source claiming to be close to the matter. As for an exact reason why Best Buy... Read more...
