Amazon is wasting no time in weaving its Alexa digital voice assistant into more of its services and apps. Last week, Alexa made its way to Amazon’s shopping app for iOS, allowing iPhone users to enjoy most of the benefits available to Echo and Echo Dot users including controlling smart devices.

Today, Amazon is announcing that its popular Prime Now two-hour delivery service is now available through Alexa. That means that you can now use your Echo device to order “tens of thousands of daily essentials” with the sound of your voice. For those that don’t already know, Prime Now (in supported metropolitan areas) allows you to order everything from electronics to tools to snack items to last-minute birthday gifts, and have them arrive at your doorstep in two hours or less. Two-hour delivery is free for Prime subscribers, but you can pay an extra $7.99 to have your order delivered within just one hour.

“Bringing Prime Now to Alexa voice shopping combines two of the most innovative shopping technologies available for an experience that our customers are going to wonder how they ever lived without,” said Assaf Ronen, Amazon VP of Voice Shopping. “We’re excited to offer the full Prime Now catalogue with Alexa, including tens of thousands of items, which allows you to refill everyday essentials you’ve just run out of like diapers or dish soap, or cater to unexpected guests with merlot and ice cream, all without ever leaving your house or even getting up from the couch.”

You will, however, have to adjust your usage of voice commands to access Prime Now. Instead of simply saying “Alexa, order a Fire TV”, you would have to modify that query to “Alexa, order a Fire TV from Prime Now”. You will then be able to select your delivery window or if you’d like to upgrade to one-hour delivery.

We should also note that you won’t have access to nearly as many products as you would from the main Amazon shopping site. And if you’re not in an area that is serviced by Prime Now, well, you’re completely out of luck. However, if you reside in the Prime Now delivery radius and can’t be bothered with lifting a finger to use the smartphone app, your cravings for munchies could be just a voice command and less than an hour away from your front door.
