Amazon Echo Price Hits New Low As Echo Show Debuts This Week With Touch Display
If you do not care about having a fancy touchscreen on your smart speaker, you can score a pretty good deal on Amazon's original Echo model. Amazon is currently selling its voice-controlled Echo speaker with Alexa integration for $130, down 28 percent from its regular retail price of $180. It is available at that discounted price in both black and white color options as Amazon looks to make room for its Echo Show.
Amazon announced the Echo Show last month. It is essentially a newer version of the original Echo smart speaker, but with a completely different design to accommodate a built-in 7-inch touchscreen display. Having a touchscreen gives the Echo Show several advantages over its predecessor—it can display things such as full weather forecasts, calendar information, video calls, and so forth. You can also control video and music playback using the touchscreen.

The Echo Show is available to pre-order for $230 and will be released on June 28, 2017 (this Wednesday). It's a nifty upgrade, though at the new price point for the original Echo, you'll have to decide if having a touchscreen (and the added functionality that comes with it) is worth a $100 premium.
As for the original Echo, it's still a neat product in and of itself. What really makes these speakers ticks is having access to Alexa, Amazon's AI assistant. Alexa continues to gain new skills that go far beyond simply looking up facts on the web and ordering products from Amazon. With Alexa inside, Echo can serve as a voice-controlled hub for your smart home with the ability to control lights, fans, thermostats, garage doors, and more.
