Leaked Samsung Galaxy S8 Image Flaunts All-Glass Front And Legacy Headphone Jack
The front of the Galaxy S8 appears to be an interrupted piece of glass (aka, Infinity Display), with no sign of a home button. Samsung is said to use a virtual home button in its place to give a more uniform look to the smartphone. The touch sensitive navigation buttons have also been given the boot.
So, if the home button is no longer on the front of the device, what happened to the fingerprint sensor? The image shows that the fingerprint sensor has migrated to the back of the smartphone and now sits beside the primary camera.
It should also be noted that the Galaxy S8 has finally ditched the microUSB port in favor of USB-C connectivity (something that we were expecting with last year’s Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge). Thankfully, however, it looks as though the 3.5mm headphone jack escaped the chopping block, as it is still located on the bottom of the device next to the USB-C port.

The Galaxy S8 will allegedly be available in two screen sizes: 5.8- and 6.2 inches, with both Super AMOLED displays maintaining a QHD (2560x1440) resolution. The displays are also expected to shift away from the industry standard 16:9 ratio in favor of an 18.5:9 ratio.
Other features on tap for the Galaxy S8 include a 12MP rear camera (unchanged from last year), a new 8MP selfie camera, Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor (for the U.S. market), 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage, microSD expansion, and either 3000 mAh (5.8-inch) or 3500 mAh (6.2-inch) batteries. As we reported earlier this week, Samsung will sell an optional DeX dock, which will allow you to hook up a mouse, keyboard and monitor (via HDMI) to use Android in a desktop mode.
Samsung has already stated that it will not introduce the Galaxy S8 at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, so it’s reported that the Unpacked event will instead be held on March 29th in New York City. The smartphone will then ship the following month.
