Samsung Galaxy S10 Kernel Source Code Hints At Galaxy Note 10 5G Variant

Samsung is doing extremely well -- so far -- with its Galaxy S10 line of devices. The smartphones set a record in the U.S. for pre-orders showing that finally, Samsung appears to have a device that will lure users into upgrading. The S10's OLED dispaly has also scored the highest-ever A+ rating in the DisplayMate benchmark. Now that the devices are making their way into the hands of customers, many are looking into the source code to find hints at new features or additional models.

Sleuthing into the source code of the Galaxy S10 kernel has unveiled hints that a 5G version of the Galaxy Note 10 smartphone is in the works. The discovery came after Samsung posted the source code for the Exynos powered smartphones. In that code, XDA-Developers reports that it found a reference to what is rumored to be the codename for the Note 10 5G device; that codename is "davinci."

The line of code hinting at the coming model reads "# CONFIG_CAMERA_DAVINCI5G is not set." XDA reports that the only other known coming smartphone is the LTE variant of the Galaxy Fold, but the codename for that device is known to be "winner." There is a chance that the "divinci" code name is for the 5G Galaxy Fold. Another codename was discovered in the kernel; that name is "luge" and has been seen in the past.

The "luge" codename is believed to be for another folding device Samsung is working on. Other than the codename, XDA reports that past digging in source code has unveiled some hardware tidbits believed to be for the Note 10. Rumored hardware includes an Exynos 9820 paired with an Exynos 5100 5G modem.
