G.SKILL Launches Ultra Low Latency Trident Z RGB DDR4-4266MHz Kits

G.SKILL is still churning out high-speed memory kits for overclockers and enthusiasts, pushing the frequency limits with increasingly faster RAM built from cherry picked memory chips. The result is that G.SKILL now offers several memory kits that top 4,000MHz. It's latest kits, however, shift the focus to latencies, offering power users the best of both worlds—high frequencies and tight timings.

Here is a look at its new lineup:
  • 32GB (4x8GB) DDR4-4266MHz, 17-18-18-38, 1.45V
  • 32GB (4x8GB) DDR4-4133MHz, 17-17-17-37, 1.40V
  • 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4-4133MHz, 17-17-17-37, 1.40V
  • 32GB (4x8GB) DDR4-4000MHz, 17-17-17-37, 1.35V
  • 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4-4000MHz, 17-17-17-37, 1.35V
As with most of G.SKILL's highest performing RAM, these new modules sport Samsung B-die DDR4 memory chips. G.SKILL says they are "rigorously hand-binned," meaning that only the best performing memory chips make the cut.

"This is the first time in tech history that DDR4 memory kits above DDR4-4000MHz speed are available at the low CL17 timing, and with lower timings, memory kits can utilize high frequency to its fullest potential with improved memory performance," G.SKILL says.

High frequencies and lower timings are not as important to performance as they were, say, a decade ago. The gains are mostly noticeable in benchmarks. That said, one reason to consider a premium memory kit is for the peace of mind that comes from having hand-sorted memory chips that have shown themselves to be the best of the bunch.

G.SKILL's Trident Z RGB memory kits are also attractive. They feature brushed aluminum heatsinks with RGB lighting that draws power from the DIMM slot—there is no external power source required.

These new kits will be available in January 2018. G.SKILL has not yet announced pricing.
