Lenovo Refreshes Yoga Laptops, Convertibles With 10th Gen Intel CPUs And Up To 20 Hours Runtime

Lenovo Yoga C940
Intel promised we would soon see a bunch of laptops touting its recently launched 10th generation "Ice Lake" processor family, and true to its word, they are starting to show up. The latest crop comes from Lenovo. The company is refreshing its premium Yoga laptops and convertibles with Intel's newest processors.

The Yoga family falls under the Project Athena banner, which is an effort by Intel to foster advanced laptop designs that meet certain criteria.

"Today, Lenovo is unveiling what’s possible through collaboration in a new class of industry-leading laptops, engineered with Intel as part of its innovation program codenamed Project Athena , to be amongst the thinnest, lightest, and most intuitive AI-enabled devices yet with the latest Intel Core processors and Windows 10," Lenovo explains.

As it pertains to that, the new 14-inch Yoga C940 boats a a couple of smart features designed to adapt to a user's performance needs. These include Super Resolution to upscale video up to 1080p on Windows Media Player, and Q-Control (named for device keys used to toggle modes) to dynamically boost a PC’s battery life when its AI-enhanced Intelligent Cooling Mode is enabled to monitor the device’s thermal attributes and better control its fan.

The 2-in-1 convertible also features things like a TrueBlock Privacy shutter, Windows Hello support, and a garaged pen with silo charging and Windows Ink.

Interestingly, Lenovo is sticking with Intel's 9th gen Core CPU family for the 15.6-inch variant. The 14-inch models, however, come with 10th gen Core i7 and i5 processor options, along with up to 16GB of memory, up to 1TB of SSD storage, up to a 4K resolution display, and up to 17.5 hours of battery life (1080p).

Lenovo is also refreshing its Yoga S740 (15-inch), C740 (14-inch and 15-inch), and C640 (13.3-inch) laptop products. The smallest of the bunch (C640) is also the longest lasting, with Lenovo claiming up to 20 hours of battery life. It will ship with 10th gen Core Core i7, i5, and i3 processor options, up to 16GB of RAM, up to 512GB of storage, and a 1080p touchscreen display. There are two panel options, though—one rated at 300 nits brightness and one that is rated at 400 nits.

Wi-Fi 6 connectivity will be offered on some of the models, presumably the ones shipping with 10th gen CPU options (while not clear cut, it looks like the 9th gen Core models are sticking with Wi-Fi 5). To take full advantage of Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, you will need a Wi-Fi 6 router.

Pricing will range by model and configuration, of which there are a whole bunch. That said, here are the starting prices...
