Motorola Moto G8 Plus Leaks With Snapdragon 665 And Triple Cameras

With all the hoopla surrounding the Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL for the past few weeks leading up to yesterday's launch, you could be forgiven if you forgot about other upcoming smartphone releases. However, Motorola is looking to step back into the spotlight later this month with the launch of the Moto G8 Plus.

Luckily for us, a slew of images of the Moto G8 Plus along with its expected specs have leaked ahead of its launch. At its heart will be Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 SoC (2GHz, octa-core Kryo 260 + Adreno 610) paired with 4GB of RAM, putting this smartphone squarely in the mid-range market.

Users will be interacting with the device via a relatively large 6.3-inch Full HD+ display (2280x1080), which has a small teardrop notch at the top to accommodate the 25MP selfie camera. Customers will be able to choose from 64GB or 128GB of internal storage, but a microSD slot is thankfully included for those that want to take advantage of cheap pricing on external storage. In addition, Motorola is fitting the Moto G8 Plus with a large 4,000 mAh battery.

In case you've been living under a rock for the past few years, camera quality has become increasingly important for smartphone buyers today. Motorola is answering the call for camera-crazy enthusiasts with a total of three rear cameras. There's a 48MP primary sensor, along with a 16MP ultra-wide sensor. Rounding things out is a 5MP depth sensor and a laser-based auto-focusing system.

Motorola is set to unveil the device first in Brazil on October 24th, and it should arrive in other global markets soon after. Unfortunately, for those that were hoping that the device would come out of the box with Google’s latest Android 10 operating system installed, we've got some bad news. The device will ship with Android 9, and Motorola's track record on upgrading its devices to newer Android releases isn't exactly stellar.
