According to a new leak making the rounds this morning OnePlus is working on a higher-end version of its OnePlus 6T flagship Android 9 Pie smartphone. The device will reportedly be called the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition and will have a whopping 10GB of onboard RAM.

We've seen a handful 10GB Android phones announced over the past month, but this immense amount of RAM is by no means commonplace -- yet. According to MySmartPrice, OnePlus partnered with automotive manufacturer (and racing phenom) McLaren to design the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition. At this time, it is unknown if the phone will be limited to special color choices and graphics, or if it will have a bespoke exterior to set it apart from "lesser" OnePlus 6T models.

With the exception of the 10GB of RAM, expect for the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition to be spec'd exactly like the company's current range-toping offering. That means we'll see a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, 256GB of onboard storage, 6.41-inch FHD+ display, dual rear cameras (20MP + 16MP) and a 16MP selfie camera that is embedded in a small "teardrop" notch in the display.

Other features include a large 3,700 mAh battery and an in-display fingerprint reader. Unfortunately, for those that love the venerable 3.5mm headphone jack, OnePlus has abandoned it by going with USB-C connectivity (or you can just connect a pair of Bluetooth headphones).

The current OnePlus 6T (6GB RAM, 128GB storage) is priced at $579, while stepping up to the configuration with 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage costs just $629. We'd expect that the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition would hit at least $700, but that would still make it far less expensive than the Galaxy Note 9 ($999 MSRP with 128GB of storage) and the iPhone XS Max ($1,099 starting MSRP for just 64GB of storage).
