Samsung Deal Lets You Reserve A Galaxy S10 Or S10+ Now And Save Up To $550
You know what is coming soon from Samsung. And guess what? Samsung knows you know, as well. The company states as much in no uncertain terms on a new reservation webpage, in which you can sign up to reserve the next Galaxy device. It is not a pre-order page, as no money is exchanging hands, but you can jot your name down for the upcoming Galaxy S10 launch.
The incentive for doing so is you will receive a $50 instant credit on accessories. Of course, a reservation system implies a bit of exclusivity, like reserving a table at a fancy restaurant to ensure you get a seat. But let's be real—there is not going to be a shortage of Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+ handsets. That is not a knock on Samsung, but an acknowledgement that it has traditionally done a good job of meeting demand.
You can also save up to $550 on a Galaxy S10 phone, by trading in your old one by visiting Samsung's promo page. The exact amount depends on which device you currently own, and assumes it is in good condition. Some handsets that qualify for the full $550 trade-in value include the following:
- Apple: iPhone XS Max, iPhone XS, iPhone XR, iPhone X, iPhone 8Plus, iPhone 8
- Samsung: Galaxy Note 9, Galaxy S9 Plus, Galaxy S9
- LG: V40
- Google: Pixel 3 XL, Pixel 3
A bunch more models bring in $300 (Galaxy S8, for example) or $150 (iPhone 6S). There are also a few that will fetch $75 (iPhone 6) or $50 (iPhone SE).
When reserving a new Galaxy phone, Samsung asks for your first and last name, email address, and ZIP code. You also have to indicate if you want an unlocked phone, or choose between one of several wireless carries—Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, and US Cellular.
The Galaxy S10 family has been subject to numerous leaks, almost since the time the Galaxy S9 came out. Barring any surprises, there will be three main models—Galaxy S10e (formerly known as Galaxy S10 Lite), Galaxy S10, and Galaxy S10+. It's also rumored that the top configuration, a Galaxy S10+ with 12GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, will be a limited edition SKU.
All three are expected to arrive with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor (US models) or Samsung's own Exynos 9820 chip (international SKUs), a full-front display with a punch-hole design for the camera(s), and an embedded fingerprint scanner.
Samsung will announce its Galaxy S10 family on February 20 during its scheduled Unpacked event.
