Samsung Debuts Swank Gold And Burgundy Galaxy S9 Phones, But There's A Catch
Samsung is known to shake things up with special color options for its high-end smartphones, sometimes offering them exclusively through Best Buy. To keep the trend going, Samsung is rolling out Sunrise Gold and Burgundy Red versions of its Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+. There's good news and bad news there, though. The good news is both color options look snazzy, but the bad news is neither one will be available in the United States right off the bat.
At least initially, the Burgundy Red edition will only be available in Korea and China starting sometime this month. Samsung will then launch the Sunrise Gold version next month in Australia, Chile, Germany, Hong Kong, Korea, Mexico, Russia, Spain, Taiwan, United Arab Emirates, and Vietnam. The company did also mention that the Sunrise Gold version will be available in additional markets soon, but didn't offer up a specific time frame or say where specifically it will be available.
We hope it includes the US because it's a nice looking color option. Along with the new Burgundy Red color, the new options join already available Midnight Black, Titanium Gray, Coral Blue, and Lilac Purple SKUs.
"People want to be able to express their style and personality through their technology and color is a big part of that personalization," said Younghee Lee, CMO and Executive Vice President of Samsung Electronics. "The new editions extend the color offerings of Galaxy S9 and S9+ with vibrant styles that embrace a modern and classic feel."
One thing to note about the Sunrise Gold Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ phones is they are Samsung's first devices to feature a satin gloss finish. As for the Burgundy Red option, Samsung says it sports a "restrained gloss [finish] for added density" and is "one of the deepest red colors available."
