Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 Snapdragon 835 Tablet Rumored For MWC Debut

A new Android tablet has made an appearance on GFXBench and it hints at Samsung releasing a Galaxy Tab S4 in the near future. The listing in GFXBench displays the model number SM-T835. If you follow these things, you know that Samsung's Galaxy Tab S3 released last year has the model name SM-T825. It is therefore reasonable to assume that the SM-T835 at GFXBench is the Galaxy Tab S4, or will be when it's formally announced.

We suspect Samsung will unveil its new tablet at Mobile World Congress (MWC) later his month. Incidentally, Samsung introduced its Galaxy Tab S3 at MWC 2017, so the writing is pretty much on the wall here. In case you need a refresher, the Galaxy Tab S3 debuted with a 9.7-inch Super AMOLED display wit ha 2048x1536 resolution powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC and 4GB of RAM.


According the GFXBench listing, the Galaxy Tab S4 will wield a slightly bigger 10.5-inch display with a 2560x1600 resolution, resulting in more pixels (albeit spread across a larger panel). The listing also indicates an octa-core Snapdragon 835 SoC with Adreno 540 graphics. It's a solid upgrade, though it's a little disappointing that Samsung is not going with Qualcomm's latest flagship SoC, the Snapdragon 845.

The listing also indicates 3.1GB of RAM and 52GB of onboard storage, which likely means 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. For taking pictures, the Galaxy Tab S4 will have an 8-megapixel front camera, and while there is no indication of what type of lens Samsung is putting in the rear of the device, it will have a rear camera.

Other standard features apply, such as 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and so forth. The NFC box is not checked, so it will be interesting to see if that's a quirk in the GFXBench listing, or if Samsung is opting not to support NFC.

All of this will come wrapped in Android 8.0 Oreo.
